Organic Impressionism.
Since moving overseas, I've developed a knack for upcycling trash in a world with an abundance of thrown out junk and a lack of readily available home decor. Thus blue beer bottles become bright vases, grungy old barrels transform into bedside tables, and backs of broken chairs repurposed as wall hangings.
As I've grown an affinity for the natural elements and rustic look, I've attempted to achieve the same effect on canvas. Layering antique hymnal pages before painting a rugged tree, applying worn book pages under a script of names and simple quotes. Hence the hope of organic impressionism is to create something both living and real, vivid yet subtle, beautiful but not contrived. Something with meaning and history and character.
